Union City lost to Iroquois 28-18 on Friday night at Bears Field. Union City got burnt on a few big plays for a second week in a row and were unable to capitalize on a couple good drives. A First Quarter 56 yard run by Ethan Klinzing put the Braves on top following the extra point 7-0. Union City answered with a 1 yard run by QB Kyler Shaffer, but were unable to convert for 2 and trailed at halftime 7-6.

Iroquois added on a 60 yard run by Klinzing and a 33 yard run by Michael Hoopsick in the Third Quarter and the Bears tried to stay close with a 14 yard scamper by Shaffer. Union City trailed 21-12 after 3.

Hoopsick had his second TD of the night, this one for 12 yards making the score 28-12. Union City’s Kyler Shaffer threw a 43 yard TD pass that was tipped by an Iroquois defender and into the arms of Skylar Olmstead with 46 seconds remaining to make the score 28-18. The Bears would be defeated again, but never gave up.
