By Chris Lash Publisher
Starting January 22nd, the Union City School District will close it’s doors at the middle/high school until Monday January 25th, due to three new positive cases of Covid-19. The positive cases we’re reported to the district in the past 48 hours, and impact secondary students. According to the district websites safety plan documents, its an effort to stop the spread of the virus in both the community, and the secondary school.
“We realize that per our health and safety plan we do not need to do a targeted closure until we reach 4-6 positive or probable cases in a 14 day rolling period, but we hope by doing this, we can minimize both the spread of COVID-19 as well as the loss of in-person instruction.” Matthew Bennett shared with Union City Today.
Please pay particular attention to the following:
During this time:
The elementary school will remain open
Secondary school classes will take place synchronously online as we have done in the past
Attendance is mandatory and grades do count Athletics will be paused from Friday through Monday and will resume on Tuesday, January 26th Swimming will be paused until February 1st
Again, this is a proactive measure taken to stem the spread of COVID-19 in our secondary.
