By Chris Lash Publisher

A renaissance grant that is directed for homeowners on West High and South Streets, will receive an extension due to unforseen difficulties, and health reasons, tied to Covid-19. The extension until Spring 2021, was not a problem with council, because they are still awarding grants.

According to Borough Council Secretary Cindy Wells “PennDOT put the bid out and received and accepted the bid from Bruce and Merrilees.  The low bid was within $70,000 of PennDOT’s estimated cost.  PennDOT had no consideration of cameras on street poles.” An idea brought up by Union City’s Police Chief. ” That was only a suggestion by the Police Chief, but wasn’t really discussed.  The planning meeting is a meeting that will be scheduled by PennDOT and scheduled in the future.” added Wells.
