By Chris Lash Publisher

Union City Alumnus known by her maiden name Ginny McKinney, graduated from Union City Area High School in 1982. Her career and life path has led her to write a childrens book about a possum, with her husband Tim illustrating it. With her husband, now known as Ginny McKinney More , the pair put together a book with a faith based positive message.

Ginny explains: “It is a children’s book written in a rhyming format with a message. It is a story of a possum named Petey who is trying to be everything he is not. It is not until he comes to understand his true gifts / purpose that he shines for his creator. I wrote the story and Tim illustrated it. I hope the message resonates with readers of all ages. I think sometimes we feel we must possess the same gifts as others. We tend to overlook the gifts/ purpose God has given us personally.”

Ginny has at times questioned what her talents are, when comparing herself to her sisters. Valuing words and books, she would think of creative ideas for a book, while spending time in the woods. Then one day, a possum came onto their property, and the book idea was born.

“The message is one I can relate to as I sometimes compare myself with others , and feel I come up short. My sisters come to mind in this regard, as I respect and admire them so much for their talents. However, I have sometimes wondered what mine are.” said McKinney More.

“The story itself took only a few hours to write. However, the illustrations and working with a publisher took about a year. We published with Christian Faith Publishing. If this story is a success, I have several others I have written with a message. I thought maybe I could publish a “Pine Scented Wood Series.” added Ginny.

The book is available through Christian Faith Publishing, and other locations where faith based childrens books are sold.
