From State Police Report

Pennsylvania State Police have charged a 29-year-old man with several offenses, including aggravated assault and aggravated indecent assault, following a domestic violence incident that happened on Saturday.
An assault with serious bodily injury allegedly occurred as a verbal domestic dispute escalated to a physical altercation between the man and a woman at a South Main Street residence in Union City Borough at about 4:51 a.m. on April 11, state police at Corry reported on Wednesday afternoon.

The man involved in the incident was listed as David Mangol, of Union City, in an online court docket and police criminal complaint.

When troopers arrived at the residence, Mangol fled the scene and they were met at the door by the victim, who had multiple bruises and scrapes, including heavy bruising on her neck and throat area, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

The affidavit states the victim told police that Mangol pushed her onto a bed multiple times and choked her with his hands around her neck as he was on top of her. She also said he used his hands, pillows and blankets to cover her nose and mouth to restrict airflow, and she was close to passing out, according to the affidavit. The affidavit states Mangol said “I hope you die” and “I am going to kill you” while choking the victim, who made multiple attempts to escape but was unable to because he kept pushing, punching, kneeing and choking her.

Mangol sexually violated the victim with his hand during the assault, and grabbed her leg while twisting and bending it backward, knowing the victim’s leg had been severely injured before, according to the affidavit.
He was charged with aggravated assault – attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, a first-degree felony; aggravated indecent assault without consent, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats and indecent assault forcible compulsion, both first-degree misdemeanors; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, both second-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary offense.

Mangol was arraigned by District Judge Scott Hammer on Saturday and placed in Erie County Prison with his bail set at $25,000, which he posted the following day.

He is scheduled to appear before District Judge Denise Buell in Corry for a preliminary hearing on June 23.
