Union City Man Charged With Local Robbery

State police at Corry have charged a Union City man in a Feb. 9 armed robbery at a Union City apartment.
Martin L. Winkler, 43, was arraigned on Friday on charges of burglary, robbery, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.
Winkler was placed in the Erie County Prison on $200,000 bond.
Police charge that Winkler was among several individuals who kicked in the front door of an apartment at 58 North Main St. in Union City between 1 a.m. and 1:30 am. on Feb. 9.
Three people were in the apartment when the robbers, each of whom had a shotgun, entered the residence, police said.
The robbers ransacked the residence and took three of the victims’ cell phones, a PlayStation 4 and fled the scene in Winkler’s vehicle.
Investigators on Thursday filed charges against Winkler and obtained an arrest warrant.
State police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, took Winkler into custody at his residence on Friday.
An illegal firearm used in the robbery also was seized from Winkler’s residence, police reported.
