While Union City Today waited on the police report, Union City social media came alive with posts from residents recalling an suspicious Package incident last Friday. The City of Erie Bomb Squad was called to the Union City McDonalds.

Pennsylvania State Police at Corry are currently investigating the package that was abandoned in the parking lot of McDonald’s, 61 N. Main St., Union City, by an unknown white male at about 5:46 a.m. Friday.

State police responded to the scene and were told that a silver minivan pulled into the parking lot around 5:46 a.m. After pulling into the parking lot, a passenger exited the vehicle and removed a white box from the rear of the van and placed it in the parking lot.

Police said the passenger re-entered the van and the vehicle drove away, heading north on Route 8. The make and model of the minivan are unknown.

The Erie Bomb Squad responded to the scene and determined the box did not contain any hazardous or explosive material. Police said it was found to contain clothing.
