From Staff Reports

A special meeting was held by the Union City Area School Board to handle a few coaching changes within the Bears athletic programs. First was the official resignation of head baseball coach Steven Yovich, who retired from his teaching position this year. The opening is effective immediately.

The board also agreed to hire Joshua Blakeslee as assistant varsity basketball coach for the upcoming season, at a stipend of $4,682, pending receipt of remaining employment documents. The board had tabled a motion last month, to switch a paid assistant coach with a volunteer.
