The Union City Bears running game proved to be too much for the Cambridge Springs Blue Devils Friday night, as the Bears romped to a 56-28 win. The Bears are 5-4 overall, but more importantly are 4-1 in Region 2, meaning they have clinched second place, heading into the playoffs.

Caleb Stull scored twice in the second half, and the Bears other back Marshall VanTassell burst for another 55 yard touchdown to help the Bears open up a 32-14 lead. The Bears had 191 yards rusing in the first half alone. The incredible running game continue with VanTassell having another long run of 35 yards and another Bears touchdown. Caleb Stull was again next, as he scored again on just two running plays equaling sixty yards.

For Union City, VanTassel had 121 yards and two touchdowns. Tallin Henry added 112 yards and a score. Stull contributed 99 yards and two more touchdown runs. All three benefitted from a great push by the Bears offensive line.

“Our guys up front have done a heck of a job all year long,” said Coach Randy Gunther. “I’m really happy with how we’re gelling together.”
