It’s Homecoming 2019

Union City gets ready for homecoming this weekend. The local events begin Friday night with the annual Homecoming football game, and at halftime the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned. Then on Saturday, UC’s 59th annual Homecoming parade will march through town starting at 11 a.m. The annual Alumni Banquet is slated for later that night in the gymnasium of the Union City Elementary School.
The Bears host Cochranton on Friday night in the annual Homecoming football game. Also at the game is the crowning of the king and queen. This year’s queen candidates are Ashley Best, Tara Jackson, Emily Eastman, Natalie Franke, Gracey Shrout and Selina Jin. The king candidates are Austin Dolan, Jamon Higley, Colton Bojaczko, Keegan Hornaman, Ryan Brooks and Ian Dufala.
During halftime of the game, this years class of for the Wall of Achievement will be honored. They include: Richard “Dick” Mason, Dr. Susan Maloney, Daniel Brumagin and Baxter Wellman
The parade this year features Bob Glenn as Grand Marshall. The parade will end in front of the Warren-Glenn Funeral Home, after making its way up Main Street. More marching bands, and always good floats will highlight this years parade.
And for the past eight years, the First United Methodist Church will hold their Homecoming Fest. Featuring two days of indoor yard sales, fun activities for kids, and their annual sit down lunch on Saturday, following the parade.
