A Union City Police officer observed a white male, known to police as Daniel Rieger, yelling and swearing at a female and two children in front of the police station on South Main Street at about 5:15 p.m. July 24. Rieger was advised by police to desist but he failed to do so. Police said Rieger was then advised that he was under arrest for disorderly conduct and he took off on foot.
A brief foot pursuit took place and he was taken into custody on West High Street several blocks away. After being secured in a patrol vehicle, Rieger kicked out one of the windows. He was then transported to Erie County Prison.
