UC’s Gavin Henry rushes for 2 TDs in County’s 23-13 victory.
From Erie Times News
Gavin Henry initially didn’t plan to participate in Friday’s 81st annual Erie Lions Club Save-An-Eye Game.
Henry was already in the midst of preparing for his first college wrestling season. Division I Davidson (North Carolina) College recruited the Union City graduate.
“I didn’t really know what my coaches would think about (playing in the game),” Henry said. “They said, ‘Fine, but don’t come back if you get hurt.’ Then I saw (Union City teammate) Matt Long in the North-South game, and that’s when I realized I had to do this.”
Metro defenders wish Henry had stuck with his original decision. He helped wear them down with 66 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the County, which won 23-13 in sauna-like conditions at McDowell’s Gus Anderson Field.
