Don’t Blink. Primary Election Day is May 21

It’s been quiet in Union City, with election day, a month away. It’s been quiet in Erie County, with primary election day coming. But it will come, and we don’t want you to miss it. Even with it not to exciting locally.

There are three open seats on Union City Borough Council but no one submitted nomination petitions so there will be no candidates on the primary ballot. UC Borough Councilmen Charles Steadman, Dustin Kolaja and Daniel Brumagin currently hold the three seats. As an incumbent, you do not automatically reappear on the ballot.

There are also five open seats on the Union City Area School District board of directors and four candidates. Running for a four-year term are incumbents Brian Gregor, Barbara Miller, George Trauner and Blain Blakeslee, all whom have cross-filed. Current Union City school board member David Fox did not file a nomination petition for the primary election.

Also locally Democratic incumbent Earl Brown is running unopposed for Union Township supervisor.

The top vote-getters from each party will then face off in the general election on Nov. 5. This past Monday was the final day for citizens to register to vote in the primary election.
