Union City Fire Department and Others Called To Fire Downtown. Now Charges are Pending

Reported last night on the Alerting Union City Facebook page, the UCFD, along with Waterford, Corry, Elgin and others were called to what turned out to be an appliance fire in an apartment downtown, in the area above where Mix 96.7 is located. The fire was put out rather easily, but one man was injured and taken to Hamot Medical Center.

According to State Police, the 48 year old man had been throwing things out of the second story window, and in the process of his anger, knocked over a hot stove, that caught his apartment on fire. He then barricaded the apartment door, stipped naked and jumped from a two story window.

The suspect faces charges including arson, causing or risking a catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
