Bears Lose Round Two Playoff Game


West Middlesex 71, Union City 56 – At Meadville Area Senior High School, Casey Mild rifled in season-high 31 points to lead the West Middlesex Big Reds (18-6) past the Bears (18-6).

West Middlesex, which held a slim 14-13 lead at the end of the opening quarter, pulled away by outscoring Union City 24-10 in the 2nd quarter. 

Jake Bowen bucketed 14 points for WM, Zach Long scored 10 and Kaz Hoffman and Ricky Ladjevich added 8 points each. The Reds were a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Miles Parker led Union City with 23 points while Brayden Kinney and Bronnan Higley had 11 each.

West Middlesex beat Youngsville, 61-32, in the opening round of the playoffs while UC ousted Mercer, 85-60.

The Big Reds advance to Tuesday’s semifinals to play Farrell.
