From Published Reports

A forensic necropsy determined a cat found in September at State Game Lands 162 died as the result of two gunshot wounds, according to the Humane Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

The male cat was shot and killed inside a blue plastic carrier, the Humane Society said. The long-haired, multi-colored cat and the carrier were found Sept. 14 at the game lands off Casler Road in Amity Township, between Wattsburg and Union City.

The Humane Society said the cat was microchipped and that its officers have talked with the owner, a city of Erie resident, who said the cat had been missing for approximately four days. The Humane Society said its officers do not believe the owner was involved in the cat’s death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chief Humane Officer Lisa Stiles at (814) 835-8360.
