Mr and Mrs Mike (Kim Megat) Vogel will be opening their new business, “Union City Pizzeria”, Friday. They will open at 11:30 am. Kelly McCafferty, Assistant Manager, says, They came up with the name, because they wanted Union City to stick out.” Already known to Union City, Mike and Kim are the owners of Kim’s Kreamery on North Main Street. They also have Kim’s Kreamery locations in Waterford and Albion.

Mike and Kim are the proud parents of Danielle ( husband Chris) of Spring Hill Florida and Jared (wife Jessica) of Edinboro, and the proud grandparents of seven boys. Mike says, “We love being in Union City. Kim graduated here, in the class of 1975, so she’s locally-grown!” Mike is a native of Wattsburg, and they have lived in Arbuckle for 10 years.

Mike added, “Kelly, (an employee of Kim’s Creamery for 3 years), when Fox’s Pizza closed, they were talking about putting subs and pizza on the menu at the kreamery. “So I contacted Jeff Fielding, and he steered me in the right direction, on who to contact. He owns the building, but he doesn’t own the equipment. I contacted Mark Moore and purchased the equipment from him, and that begin our journey! “Now, we are waiting for the final approval from the Health Department.

We are looking forward to serving the community was some of the best pizza and subs you will ever eat! Kim and I will be available and working right alongside everybody.” They will have fresh made crust, made each day by International Bakery in Erie. They will bring in fresh crust each day! Also, Kelly adds, “We are slicing our own meat and cheese.” They will also have pepperoni balls and tossed salad. Kim adds, “The pepperoni that we are using is called Cup and Char! It is the same pepperoni Helen used in her pizza parlor, at Helen’s Pizza. No one else around uses that type of pepperoni!”

Kim added, “Our goal is to make a product that people will love and come back. Union City is my hometown. I grew up here, went to school here, and I have lots of friends and family here. I have roots here. Union City gets a bad rap, but it’s a lovely community. “We want to cater to our customers and give them the best product available. We are open to comments too, if someone wants something we don’t have, we will do our best to provide it!”

This reporter had a piece of their pizza tonight and it is delicious! And yes, I do remember that type of pepperoni!
Stop in on Friday and welcome this new business to town!
